Young Justice: Amazo Episode
Yes, one day I'll be that good looking...
Anyway, just finished watching an episode of Young Justice with Micah. I was actually in the middle of journaling and thought I might as well stop and spend time with my brother for a bit. So, we watched the show together and it was really good to just get back into watching a good ol' comic based cartoon.
What stood out to me in this episode was the lesson Black Canary was trying to teach the Young Justice team (Superboy, Robin, Kid Flash, etc): Always act, don't react. In other words, if you're in a fight, don't let the person you are fighting dictate your moves, you should not be responding or being defensive. Fight on your own terms. It was only through doing this that they got to beat the "unstoppable" robot Amazo.
The thing that stood out to me was this: we need to be the same way. First, we need to NOT be like Superboy in this episode and listen to our teachers. But that's besides the point. The thing is that we need to be people who act. In the Christian community, we seem to always be the ones reacting. Instead, shouldn't we be the ones who act? Like Jesus said in the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you: it's in the positive not in the negative, it's in the active not the passive, it is active not reactive. When it comes to standing up for our faith, whether by showing love to others or by sharing the gospel, we cannot be passive. We should be the ones out there dictating the "fight", seeking for God's kingdom to grow here.
All too often, we are so passive and don't want to commit. But passive Christians are like passive sentences - they are just....there. There is no passion. There is no drive. It's just there. If God is on the move, we move with Him. If God wants us to shine our light, we shine it BRIGHTLY. We MUST go above and beyond what the world deems "holy" and remember that our standard is not the world or even ourselves, our standard is God.
Cause only then will we be able to defeat the "unstoppable". May we all stop being so passive, so "reactive", and start taking initiative and leading.
